Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to maintain and support various systems at Medupi Power Station over a period of 5 years. These systems include fire protection, potable water, diesel generator engines, recovery dams, pollution control dams, raw water dams, water treatment plant clarifiers, and primary and secondary clarifiers. The goal is to ensure continuous, reliable operation and compliance with safety and environmental standards for the station's critical infrastructure.

Scope

The scope encompasses the maintenance and support of the following systems at Medupi Power Station:

• Fire Protection System
• Potable Water System
• Diesel Generator Engines
• Recovery Dams
• Pollution Control Dams
• Raw Water Dams
• Water Treatment Plant Clarifiers
• Primary and Secondary Clarifiers

The contract duration is five years, with the expectation that the successful bidder will provide ongoing maintenance, technical support, and system upgrades as required to ensure optimal performance and compliance.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of routine and preventive maintenance for all specified systems.
• Adherence to Eskom’s safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards.
• Compliance with relevant South African standards and Eskom’s internal policies.
• Provision of qualified personnel with relevant technical expertise and certifications.
• Implementation of monitoring, reporting, and documentation processes for system performance and maintenance activities.
• Participation in site meetings, inspections, and audits as required.
• Provision of spare parts, consumables, and technical support to ensure system reliability.
• Compliance with environmental management and pollution control requirements.

Skills and Competency Requirements

• Proven experience in maintenance of water treatment systems, dams, and industrial water systems.
• Technical expertise in fire protection systems, diesel generator engines, and water clarifiers.
• Qualified engineers and technicians with relevant certifications (e.g., SHEQ, water treatment, electrical, mechanical).
• Knowledge of Eskom’s safety, environmental, and quality standards.
• Ability to develop and implement maintenance plans, procedures, and reports.
• Experience in managing large-scale infrastructure maintenance projects over multiple years.
• Strong communication, reporting, and documentation skills.
• Demonstrated capacity to work within Eskom’s operational environment and adhere to strict safety protocols.
