Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified contractor to undertake renovations of an existing building to establish a new IDC Regional Office in Durban, ensuring the space meets IDC’s operational and functional requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Careful removal of existing partitions and aluminium doors, with handover to IDC or landlord.
• Installation of new partitions to form offices and boardrooms, including doors and door openings.
• Refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing office space as per architectural drawings.
• Provision of a Project Manager to oversee the entire project, provide daily updates, and ensure completion within the stipulated timeframe.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations, warranties, guarantees, and insurance requirements.
• Completion within a period of three weeks from commencement.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993, and related legislation.
• Provision of warranties and guarantees for work and materials.
• Public liability insurance of R2,500,000 before commencement.
• Registration with CIDB at a contractor grading designation of 4GB or higher.
• Proof of COIDA registration for building class.
• Relevant experience in office building renovations, including removal and installation of partitions, carpets, aluminium shopfronts, and doors.
• A detailed methodology and project plan demonstrating understanding of objectives, activities, timelines, and milestones.
• Qualified key personnel with relevant experience, particularly in partition installation, with a maximum of two technicians with at least three years’ experience each.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required include:

• Qualified project manager with experience in office renovations.
• Technicians skilled in partition installation, carpentry, and related trades.
• Demonstrated relevant experience through references of similar projects completed in the past five years.
• Ability to develop and implement a comprehensive project methodology and schedule.
• Compliance with health, safety, and legal standards, including CIDB registration and COIDA certification.
