Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a panel of capable service providers who will supply, repair, replace, and refurbish bulk water valves for Amatola Water's pump stations, pipeline network, and water treatment works over a period of three (3) years on an ad-hoc basis.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of various types of water valves (e.g., gate valves, check valves, control valves, butterfly valves, etc.) in different sizes and pressure ratings.
• Repair, refurbishment, and replacement of existing valves and related equipment.
• Preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections.
• Delivery, installation, and commissioning of valves at designated sites.
• Provision of spares, repair kits, and associated components.
• Ad-hoc repairs and refurbishment services as requested by Amatola Water.
• Provision of related services such as safety, testing, and documentation.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• Valves must meet relevant standards such as SABS, SANS241, and other applicable specifications.
• Valves must be suitable for potable water and have at least a six (6) month guarantee for repaired valves.
• Valves must be supplied with appropriate accessories, such as bolts, nuts, gaskets, and actuators, as specified.
• Valves must be compatible with existing pipeline systems and pressure ratings (PN16, PN25, PN40).
• All materials used shall bear the SABS mark where applicable.
• Valves and equipment must be delivered, installed, and commissioned in accordance with manufacturer specifications and standards.
• All repair and refurbishment work must ensure valves are fully functional, leak-free, and compliant with safety standards.

Skills and Competency Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate the following:

• CIDB registration with a minimum grading of 2ME or higher, or capability to register prior to evaluation.
• Proven experience with at least three (3) completed projects or maintenance work orders related to water valve supply, repair, or refurbishment within the last five (5) years.
• Qualified key personnel, including:
• Supervisors/Foremen: Minimum N3 qualification, mechanical trade test certificate, and at least five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Mechanical Artisans: Mechanical qualification (N3 or higher), trade test in Fitting/Turning, and at least three (3) years of experience in valve repairs/refurbishments.
• Provision of CVs, proof of qualifications, and relevant experience for key personnel.
• Demonstrated understanding of occupational health and safety regulations, with a comprehensive health and safety plan.
• Capability to supply valves and related equipment that meet specified standards and pressure ratings.
• Financial stability, including proof of good standing with SARS, CIDB registration, and relevant insurance cover.
• Capacity to deliver within the specified timeframes and adhere to quality standards.
