Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to facilitate the construction of the Phase 4 Sports Field at Mphuthumi Mafumbatha, including earthworks, building structures, sports facilities, landscaping, and associated infrastructure. The project aims to deliver a fully functional sports complex with specified standards of quality, safety, and durability, meeting the requirements outlined in the tender documentation.

Scope

The scope encompasses a comprehensive range of construction activities and services, including:

• Earthworks, excavation, filling, and site clearance
• Concrete works, masonry, and structural steelwork
• Building of sports facilities, grandstands, and associated structures
• Installation of roofing, waterproofing, cladding, and roofing accessories
• Installation of plumbing, drainage, and stormwater systems
• Electrical and mechanical services, including lighting, power, and fire systems
• Fencing, signage, and external works such as paving and landscaping
• Interior finishes, carpentry, joinery, and fixtures
• Specialist installations including sports equipment, seating, and safety features
• Provision of temporary facilities, site management, and safety measures

The scope also includes coordination with subcontractors, compliance with legal and safety standards, and ensuring environmental considerations are met throughout the project duration.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify adherence to relevant standards, specifications, and best practices, including:

• Compliance with JBCC Edition 6.2 May 2018 and other referenced standards
• Proper design, fabrication, and installation of structural steel, roofing, cladding, and waterproofing systems
• Use of approved materials, including galvanised steel, aluminium, concrete, and finishes
• Implementation of approved waterproofing, damp proofing, and insulation systems with guarantees of at least 10 years
• Installation of plumbing, drainage, and stormwater systems in accordance with SABS standards
• Electrical installations including lighting, power, fire detection, and emergency systems
• Construction of earthworks with specified compaction and soil treatment
• Provision of as-built drawings, shop drawings, and compliance with manufacturer instructions
• Implementation of health, safety, and environmental regulations
• Quality control through testing, inspections, and certification at various stages

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

• Proven experience in large-scale sports facility construction and infrastructure projects
• Capability to manage earthworks, concrete, steelwork, roofing, and waterproofing works
• Skilled workforce for masonry, carpentry, joinery, and finishing trades
• Qualified personnel for electrical, plumbing, and mechanical installations, including MEPDF coordination
• Competence in project management, including scheduling, programming, and site supervision
• Ability to coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and authorities effectively
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices
• Capability to produce and submit detailed shop drawings, method statements, and quality assurance documentation
• Experience in handling specialist installations such as sports equipment, signage, and security systems
• Financial capacity to undertake the scope of works, including provision for contingencies and provisional sums
