Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure plant hire services for 34-ton tipper trucks on an as-and-when-required basis for a period of 5 years. The service aims to support Eskom's waste management operations, including transportation and disposal of general, hazardous, and industrial waste from various power stations to designated disposal facilities.

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of compliant 34-ton tipper trucks, operated by qualified drivers, for waste collection, transportation, and disposal across multiple Eskom power stations and sites. The services include:

• Provision of a minimum of two (and up to four) trucks upon contract award.
• Transportation of various waste types (hazardous and non-hazardous) from specified Eskom sites to disposal facilities.
• Ensuring trucks are roadworthy, compliant with safety and environmental regulations, and equipped with necessary signage and licenses.
• Operator/driver requirements: valid licenses, dangerous goods certification, PPE, and medical surveillance.
• Adherence to safety, health, environmental, and quality standards, including reporting and documentation procedures.
• Regular meetings, performance monitoring, and penalties for non-compliance.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Provision of 34-ton tipper trucks capable of transporting hazardous and general waste.
• Vehicles must be registered for hazardous waste transport, with valid licenses, signage, and safety features.
• Drivers must possess valid code 14 licenses, PDP, dangerous goods certification, PPE, and medical clearance.
• Vehicles must be inspected and approved by ERI prior to commencement.
• Compliance with all relevant safety, environmental, and traffic regulations.
• Use of reliable, efficient technology for fleet management and reporting.
• Provision of accurate documentation such as manifests, collection records, and disposal certificates.
• Adherence to the scope of work, including collection, transportation, and disposal procedures.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Experience in operating and maintaining 34-ton tipper trucks, with at least one reference letter for similar projects.
• Qualified and competent drivers with valid licenses, dangerous goods certification, PPE, and medical clearance.
• Ability to comply with safety, health, and environmental standards, including SHEQ policies.
• Capacity to provide reliable, roadworthy vehicles that meet regulatory standards.
• Effective fleet management, scheduling, and reporting capabilities.
• Proven track record in waste transportation and disposal services, with documented performance metrics.
• Capability to attend scheduled meetings, monitor service levels, and implement corrective actions.
