Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure an Occupational and Environmental Radiation Protection Dosimetry Service for NRF iThemba LABS, to be provided over a period of 5 months. The service aims to support radiation safety by providing accurate dose measurement and reporting for radiation workers, ensuring compliance with radiation protection standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of dosimetry services using Thermo Luminescent or Optically Stimulated Luminescence (OSL) dosimeters for skin (Hp0.07) and deep dose (Hp10) measurements for X-rays, gamma rays, and beta radiation.
• Environmental dosimeter management and data collection.
• Registration and deregistration of radiation workers as instructed by iThemba LABS.
• Supply of individual dose reports from the National Dose Registry upon request.
• Collection, weighing, packaging, and couriering of dosimeters.
• Delivery of electronic dose reports (CSV files) for each wearing period.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Use of Thermo Luminescent or OSL dosimeters for Hp0.07 and Hp10 dose equivalents.
• Provision of environmental dosimeters (TLD or OSL).
• Ability to register/deregister workers as radiation workers based on instructions.
• Supply of individual dose reports from the National Dose Registry.
• Collection, measurement, weighing, and packaging of dosimeters with proper documentation.
• Electronic submission of dose results in CSV format.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in providing radiation dosimetry services, with at least three recent references for similar projects within the last 60 months.
• Capability to handle environmental and personal dosimetry using TLD or OSL technology.
• Competence in managing registration/deregistration processes for radiation workers.
• Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and electronic reporting of dose measurements.
• Logistical capacity for collection, packaging, and couriering of dosimeters.
• Compliance with relevant safety and regulatory standards for radiation protection services.
