Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to carry out maintenance services for electric fencing within the East London Industrial Development Zone (IDZ). The aim is to ensure the electric fencing remains operational, secure, and compliant with relevant standards throughout the contract period.

Scope

The scope includes the provision of maintenance services for electric fencing at the East London IDZ as specified in the tender documents. It encompasses all activities necessary to keep the fencing in good working condition, including inspections, repairs, and compliance with applicable standards. The scope also involves adherence to the detailed scope of work, standard specifications, and standardised procedures outlined in the tender data and associated documentation.

Technical Requirements

• Compliance with SABS 1200 Standardised Specifications for Civil Engineering Construction.
• Measurement and execution of work in accordance with the provisions of SABS 1200-A for preliminary and general items.
• Provision of all necessary equipment, materials, and labour that are approved and aligned with the Manual & Operation Standards of ELIDZ.
• Inclusion of all costs related to general risks, liabilities, overheads, and profit in the unit rates and lump sums.
• Provision of detailed drawings, designs, or other information as required, with all associated costs included in the tendered prices.
• Adherence to the pricing instructions, including rates for "rate only" items, and accurate completion of the Bill of Quantities.
• Guarantee of security through a bank guarantee, insurance guarantee, or cash deposit as specified.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in maintenance of electric fencing systems.
• Knowledge of civil engineering standards, particularly SABS 1200 specifications.
• Ability to interpret detailed scope of work, drawings, and specifications.
• Competence in providing comprehensive maintenance services, including inspections, repairs, and troubleshooting.
• Capability to prepare and submit accurate pricing, including rates for "rate only" items and lump sums.
• Understanding of contractual and legal requirements related to guarantees and security provisions.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with the employer’s representatives and submitting required documentation.
