Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure a reputable and accredited training provider to deliver basic welding training to five (5) personnel from the GLM Region, covering the Ermelo, Irene, Polokwane, and Thohoyandou offices. The training aims to equip personnel with essential welding skills necessary for maintenance, repair, and fabrication tasks related to weather monitoring infrastructure.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Delivering face-to-face basic welding training over five (5) consecutive days, incorporating both theoretical and practical components.
• Providing participant training manuals, stationery, attendance registers, and certificates of competence upon successful completion.
• Covering topics such as welding processes, safety procedures, equipment handling, metal identification, joint types, fault identification, and quality control.
• Conducting practical assessments and hands-on exercises, including simple repair tasks.
• Providing refreshments, including lunch, during training sessions.

Technical Requirements

The training provider must:

• Demonstrate expertise in welding processes such as MIG/MAG, TIG, ARC, and oxy-fuel cutting.
• Ensure training includes safety protocols, PPE usage, hazard awareness, and workshop safety procedures.
• Use specialised equipment and adhere to safety standards during practical exercises.
• Provide training on welding equipment setup, maintenance, and fault identification.
• Include theoretical knowledge on welding applications, joint types, and quality standards.
• Facilitate practical assessments with hands-on welding exercises and simple repair tasks.
• Ensure trainers are qualified with relevant certifications and experience in welding training, with CVs and proof of qualifications submitted.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must possess:

• Accreditation with relevant SETA or QCTO bodies, with proof of accreditation valid at the time of submission.
• Demonstrable experience in delivering welding training, supported by reference letters from previous clients within the past ten (10) years.
• Qualified trainers with at least NQF Level 4 qualifications in welding or related trades such as Boiler Making Artisan Trade, with more than three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Capability to provide comprehensive training manuals, practical equipment, and safety gear.
• Ability to conduct face-to-face training in a workshop environment, ensuring adherence to safety standards and safety procedures.
