Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to deliver accredited Field Guide Training services at Addo Elephant National Park. The training aims to enhance the skills of twenty-four learners in line with registered unit standards, supporting sector transformation, capacity building, and sustainable employment within the tourism and conservation sectors.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Delivering a customized Field Guide Training Programme aligned with SAQA-registered unit standards and CATHSSETA requirements.
• Training twenty-four learners within the Addo Elephant National Park area.
• Providing training tools, resources, and assessments as per the registered standards.
• Ensuring the training is conducted over a period of approximately three months, including Saturdays where possible.
• Providing facilitator accommodation and related logistical support.
• Assessing learners and providing certification upon successful completion.

Technical Requirements

The service provider must:

• Be accredited to deliver and assess the following SAQA unit standards:
• • Conduct a guided nature experience (SAQA ID 335799, Level 4, 7 credits)
  • Care for customers (SAQA ID 246740, Level 4, 3 credits)
  • Conduct a tourist guiding activity (SAQA ID 335801, Level 4, 8 credits)
  • Minimize and manage safety and emergency incidents (SAQA ID 255914, Level 4, 6 credits)
  • Research and design a guided experience at a prominent tourism site (SAQA ID 335803, Level 4, 5 credits)
  • Conduct a guided experience to view potentially dangerous animals (SAQA ID 335797, Level 4, 15 credits)
• Ensure compliance with CATHSSETA and SANParks policies, legislative, and regulatory frameworks.
• Provide a methodology and programme outline demonstrating how the training will be delivered, including timelines and resource plans.
• Have a track record of offering relevant training in the field guiding sector.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Experience in delivering training related to field guiding, with at least three relevant contactable references from the past five years.
• Qualified facilitators with:
• Minimum NQF Level 6 qualification with an assessor certificate for facilitators involved in training delivery.
• For lead facilitators: NQF Level 7 or above with relevant assessor certification.
• CVs and SAQA reports for all facilitators involved.
• A comprehensive training methodology outlining tools, resources, and assessment strategies.
• Capacity to manage logistics, including facilitator accommodation and learner support.
• Compliance with all legislative and accreditation standards relevant to the training standards and unit standards.
