Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint service providers for the provision of labour to carry out various capital and operational project works within Bergrivier Municipality. The scope includes tasks such as electrical construction, maintenance, trenching, cable installation, overhead line work, street lighting, and related electrical reticulation activities, for a period ending 30 June 2027.

Scope

The scope encompasses a wide range of electrical and civil activities including:

• Installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical infrastructure such as substations, transformers, switchgear, and overhead and underground cables.
• Construction, excavation, and reinstatement works related to electrical networks.
• Provision of labour for street lighting, high mast lighting, and vandalism prevention measures.
• Testing, commissioning, and certification of electrical installations.
• Coordination with various stakeholders and compliance with safety standards and regulations.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify adherence to relevant standards including SANS, NRS, and IEC standards, covering:

• Installation and jointing of medium and low voltage cables, including pressure testing and certification.
• Installation of transformers, switchgear, ring main units, and street lighting equipment.
• Earthing and lightning protection for all electrical assets.
• Provision of test certificates for all installed equipment.
• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and related regulations.
• Proper trenching, backfilling, and reinstatement in accordance with SANS 1200 standards.
• Use of qualified personnel for specialized tasks, with certification and authorization as required.

Skills and Skills Requirements
