Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to provide occupational hygiene training on an 'as and when required' basis for a period of four (04) years across Eskom Training Centres. The training aims to enhance the competency of personnel in various occupational hygiene disciplines, ensuring compliance with legal standards, promoting safety culture, and embedding Eskom’s core values such as Zero Harm.

Scope

The scope encompasses the delivery of a comprehensive range of occupational hygiene courses tailored to different technical areas, including but not limited to:

• Monitoring and management of heat stress and confined space entry
• Measurement of hazardous chemical agents, gases, vapours, noise, illumination, electromagnetic fields, and radiation
• Asbestos surveying, sampling, and management
• Biological agents and physical hazards management
• Ergonomics and occupational health assessments
• Indoor air quality and HVAC system assessments
• Legislation and compliance reporting

The training will be conducted at Eskom’s training centres or via remote platforms (e.g., TEAMS) as required, with courses designed for occupational hygiene practitioners, OHS personnel, SHE reps, and technical staff involved in monitoring and managing workplace hazards.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of accredited training facilitators with relevant qualifications and experience
• Development and submission of training materials aligned with Eskom standards and accreditation bodies (QCTO/SETAs)
• Delivery of training in various formats: classroom, online (TEAMS), practical demonstrations, and assessments
• Assessment of learners before and after training, with issuance of competency certificates that do not expire
• Adherence to Eskom’s safety, health, and environmental policies, including SHE induction and Life Saving Rules
• Quality assurance of training content and facilitators through Eskom’s committees and spot evaluations
• Provision of training manuals, PPE, equipment, and supporting materials for practical exercises
• Compliance with Eskom’s procurement, security, and site access protocols, including security clearances and permits for site visits
• Reporting, documentation control, and audit readiness, including record retention for at least five years

Skills Requirements

• Qualified and experienced occupational hygiene trainers, assessors, and moderators accredited by QCTO/SETAs
• Minimum of 3 years’ industry experience in occupational health and safety training or related fields; preferred 5+ years
• Proficiency in delivering training via classroom and online platforms, with capability to adapt content for different audiences and languages
• Strong understanding of occupational hygiene standards, legislation, and best practices
• Ability to develop and customize training materials aligned with Eskom’s policies and operational procedures
• Competence in conducting assessments, evaluations, and providing feedback for continuous improvement
• Good project management and communication skills to coordinate training schedules, logistics, and stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessment, and incident management related to occupational hygiene
