Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a competent and experienced service provider to conduct comprehensive pre-employment background checks for prospective employees of NRWDI. These checks include verification of qualifications, identity, criminal records, credit status, employment history, references, citizenship, professional registration, and security clearance facilitation, among other background screening services. The aim is to support NRWDI’s recruitment and selection process over a period of three years, ensuring the integrity and suitability of potential employees.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses the provision of various pre-employment verification and security screening services, including but not limited to:

• Qualification verification (both domestic and international)
• Identity verification (ID, citizenship, permanent residence, passport)
• Criminal record checks (including warrants, parole, sex offender registry)
• Credit checks
• Employment history verification
• Reference checks
• Citizenship verification
• Professional registration verification
• Security clearance facilitation and related vetting services
• Any other background screening services as may be required by NRWDI from time to time

The service provider will conduct these verifications to confirm the accuracy of information provided by candidates and assess their suitability for employment.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Conducting ID, citizenship, permanent residence, and passport verification to confirm identity and legal work rights in South Africa.
• Verifying criminal history, including convictions, parole status, warrants, and sex offender registry.
• Providing credit status verification where applicable.
• Verifying educational qualifications from institutions both within and outside South Africa.
• Confirming registration, accreditation, or affiliation with professional bodies.
• Facilitating security clearances and related vetting services.
• Providing background screening services as required, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with relevant legislation.

Skills Requirements

The service provider must demonstrate:

• Relevant experience and proven competence in conducting pre-employment background checks and vetting services.
• Capability to verify a wide range of background information accurately and efficiently.
• Knowledge of South African legal and regulatory requirements related to background screening and security vetting.
• Ability to provide timely and reliable verification reports.
• Strong confidentiality and data protection practices.
• Qualified personnel with expertise in background verification processes.
