Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to establish a rate-based contract for plumbing repairs and maintenance at Frere Hospital. Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Provision of plumbing repairs and maintenance services at Frere Hospital.
• Rendering of services as and when required, based on work orders issued by the hospital.
• Inclusion of unspecified items under the plumbing maintenance commodity, with proven costs submitted for approved items not explicitly specified.
• Issuance of work orders for repairs, with monthly invoicing based on completed job cards at agreed rates.
• Work to be carried out only upon issuance of official purchase/work orders.

Technical Requirements

• Registration with PIRB (Plumbing Industry Regulatory Board) and proof of compliance.
• Provision of at least three contactable references for plumbing work completed in the last 24 months.
• Adherence to specified standards for plumbing installations, including:
• Pre-cast concrete manholes with heavy-duty lids.
• Underground sewer piping of 110mm PVC.
• Close-couple toilets with cisterns and heavy-duty seats.
• Heavy-duty taps, mixers, and shower stop-cocks.
• Hand basins, scrub sinks, hydro-boils, geysers, and water fountains as specified.
• Provision of detailed work specifications, including installation, repair, and servicing of plumbing fixtures and systems.
• Use of specified materials and fittings, with proven quality and compliance.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Capacity and capability to perform plumbing maintenance and repairs within the specified scope.
• Registered PIRB staff with valid certificates of compliance (CoC).
• Experience in executing plumbing repairs and maintenance, supported by references and proof of completed work.
• Ability to provide skilled artisans and trade assistants, with rates specified for normal and after-hours work.
• Compliance with health, safety, and quality standards relevant to plumbing services.
• Understanding of hospital environment requirements, including safety and hygiene standards.
