Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to undertake the refurbishment of Coal Silos Units 1-6 at Tutuka Power Station over a period of three years. The project aims to ensure the structural integrity, safety, and operational efficiency of the silos through comprehensive refurbishment activities.

Scope

The scope includes the complete refurbishment of Coal Silos Units 1-6 at Tutuka Power Station. This encompasses all necessary activities to restore and upgrade the silos to meet safety, environmental, and operational standards within the specified three-year period.

Technical Requirements

• Adherence to Eskom contractor Health and Safety requirements standards (32-136).
• Compliance with SHE specifications provided by Eskom.
• Full alignment with Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993.
• Compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act where applicable.
• Adherence to Compensation for Occupational Diseases and Illnesses Act 130 of 1993.
• Compliance with the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998.
• Implementation of SHE policies, procedures, and standards aligned with Eskom’s requirements.
• Management and supervision of contractors and suppliers to ensure SHE compliance, including audits and assessments.
• Provision of documentation and references to verify previous similar work upon Eskom’s request.

Skills Requirements

• Understanding of SHE standards and legal requirements relevant to the project.
• Ability to manage and monitor contractors and suppliers for SHE compliance.
• Capability to conduct audits and assessments related to SHE performance.
• Knowledge of refurbishment procedures specific to coal silo infrastructure.
• Competence in documentation, reporting, and verification processes for SHE compliance.
• Effective communication skills to ensure understanding and adherence to SHE policies among all stakeholders.
