Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to refurbish the Kriel PS Generator Circuit Breaker (GCB) Compressor Plant Control Circuit at Units 1 & 4 over a period of 12 months. The project aims to ensure the reliable operation and maintenance of the generator circuit breaker and associated control systems, aligning with Eskom’s standards and quality expectations.

Scope

The scope of work involves the refurbishment of the generator circuit breaker, compressor plant control circuits, and associated systems at Units 1 & 4. This includes activities such as inspection, repair, replacement of components, testing, commissioning, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications as per the contractual and technical requirements.

Technical Requirements

• Adherence to industry standards, codes, and specifications relevant to GCB refurbishment and control circuit upgrades.
• Implementation of approved method statements, safe working procedures, and risk assessments.
• Use of qualified personnel with appropriate skills and certifications.
• Provision of detailed documentation including inspection reports, certificates of compliance, and data books.
• Execution of quality control activities such as inspections, testing, and validation to meet specified quality standards.
• Proper management of supplier and sub-supplier activities, including monitoring and interface with Eskom’s QMS.
• Post-delivery activities including commissioning, warranty support, and technical assistance.

Skills Requirements

• Qualified electrical and mechanical engineers with experience in GCB refurbishment and control systems.
• Technicians skilled in testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting high-voltage equipment.
• Quality assurance and quality control specialists familiar with ISO 9001, ISO 10005, and relevant industry standards.
• Project management personnel capable of coordinating activities, documentation, and compliance monitoring.
• Health and safety officers trained in safe work practices and risk management.
• Effective communication skills for liaising with Eskom and other stakeholders.
