Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to remove clinkers inside the boiler and clean inaccessible areas of the boiler using rope access techniques during outages and as required on an "as and when" basis at Kriel Power Station. The work aims to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the power station by eliminating accumulated deposits that pose fire risks and hinder maintenance activities.

Scope of Work

The scope includes:

• Industrial cleaning of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary plant areas using rope access methods.
• Cleaning of inaccessible areas such as beams, pipework, vessels, ducts, gratings, roofs, and elevated plant components.
• Vacuuming and removal of coal, ash, dust, and pulverized fuel deposits from various plant structures and surfaces.
• Site establishment, planning, supervision, and coordination of cleaning activities.
• Work on Units 1-6, including outside plant and water treatment areas within Kriel Power Station boundaries.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental standards during execution.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Use of mechanised cleaning machinery, vacuum equipment, or manual cleaning only where mechanised methods are not viable.
• Highly reliable, robust, self-sustaining vacuum and cleaning equipment capable of minimizing dust and handling ash and coal spillage.
• Provision of portable vacuum units, vacuum trucks, and other industrial cleaning tools.
• Preparation and submission of a detailed cleaning method statement, including quality control and recurring dust management strategies.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations, including site permits, security procedures, and emergency protocols.
• Adherence to environmental constraints, including ISO14001 standards, and environmental management practices.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in industrial cleaning of boiler and inaccessible plant areas using rope access techniques.
• Competence in operating and maintaining mechanised cleaning machinery and vacuum equipment.
• Qualified personnel, including Rope Technicians (Levels 1-3), supervisors, safety officers, and general labourers, with appropriate training and certifications.
• Ability to develop and implement detailed cleaning and safety method statements.
• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations applicable to power station maintenance activities.
• Effective site management, supervision, and coordination skills to ensure safe and efficient work execution.
