Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to carry out the replacement of windows in the Sarah Baartman District Municipal Offices. The project aims to improve the building's infrastructure by installing new aluminum windows that meet specified standards, ensuring safety, durability, and compliance with municipal requirements.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Removal of existing window frames and installation of new glazed aluminum windows matching the existing pattern with top-hang opening design.
• Supply and installation of window frames (1600 x 1700mm high) with bronze safety glass (S10), ironmongery, thresholds, and sills.
• Preparation of surfaces, including removal of old paint, filling cracks, and applying exterior quality paint to walls and concrete columns.
• Provision of scaffolding, barricading, and safety measures during construction.
• Appointing and supervising a qualified service provider for the installation of wall-split air conditioners.
• Adherence to a project duration of four months.
• All prices must include VAT and remain valid for 90 days.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the project are as follows:

• Supply and installation of aluminum windows with glazed S10 bronze safety glass, top-hang opening design, and ironmongery.
• Matching existing window patterns, with measurements verified on-site.
• Preparation of surfaces by removing blistered or peeling paint, filling cracks, and applying exterior paint in matching colors.
• Use of scaffolding with certification, ensuring safety and compliance with relevant standards (SANS 10085).
• Inclusion of all necessary permits, barricading, and safety measures.
• Installation of energy-efficient inverter air conditioners (12,000 BTU) with all accessories, electrical works, and qualified installation.
• Use of the GCC Series 2000 Principal Building Agreement form for contract monitoring.
• Project duration: Four months.

Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Relevant company experience in similar window replacement projects, with at least 3-4 completed projects of similar scope over the past 10 years.
• Experience and qualifications of key personnel, including a project manager and site foreman, with CVs and proof of qualifications attached.
• Qualified project manager with a degree/BTech (NQF 7) or equivalent in the built environment.
• Qualified site foreman with a National Diploma (NQF 6) or higher in the built environment.
• Ability to plan and execute the project safely, efficiently, and within the specified timeframe.
• Capability to supervise subcontractors, such as air conditioner installers, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including the preparation of a comprehensive health and safety plan.
