Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider responsible for supplying and delivering protective clothing and PPE for the iSimangaliso Wetland Park Authority. This includes supporting vegetation control, wetland rehabilitation projects, and ensuring the safety of personnel involved in environmental management activities. Additionally, the project aims to create employment opportunities and support government initiatives such as the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP) and related environmental projects.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of various protective clothing and PPE items tailored to different user groups within the park, including:

• Protective clothing for environmental monitors, landcare managers, and EPWP project workers.
• Specific PPE such as branded T-shirts, Conti suits, safety jackets, hard hats, safety boots, gloves, masks, aprons, whistles, rubber gloves, helmets, hats, boots, gaiters, and other safety accessories.
• Uniforms and clothing tailored for different roles, including environmental monitors, landcare managers, and security personnel.
• Provision of PPE for multiple project years (2026/2027, 2027/2028, 2028/2029), with quantities and designs subject to approval and project needs.
• Delivery of PPE items across specified locations, with consideration for project budgets and potential adjustments in quantities.

The contract duration is 36 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and project requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of PPE items that meet specified standards (e.g., SABS, SANS, and other relevant safety standards).
• Items must be branded as per user department approval, with designs, logos, and colors subject to approval.
• Uniform specifications for different roles, including fabric type, durability, and safety features.
• Items must be supplied in specified sizes and quantities, with flexibility for adjustments.
• All PPE must be delivered in accordance with project timelines and specifications, including proper packaging and documentation.
• Compliance with legislative and safety standards applicable to PPE and clothing for environmental and construction activities.

Skills and Minimum Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in supplying PPE and uniforms, with a minimum of 4 years for relevant projects.
• Capability to provide a comprehensive company profile, including history, premises, support staff, and previous project references.
• Compliance with legislative requirements, including tax compliance verified through the Central Supplier Database (CSD).
• Qualified personnel, such as graphic designers or technicians, with relevant certifications (minimum NQF6 in graphic/web/desktop design).
• Ability to meet quality standards, deliver within specified timeframes, and provide competitive pricing with escalation options over the contract period.
• Capacity to support local content and participation of historically disadvantaged groups, including Black-owned, youth, women, and disabled persons.

Additional skills include effective communication, adherence to confidentiality, and capacity for technical demonstration or presentation if shortlisted.
