Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to deliver flexible insurance solutions tailored for South African artists and athletes. The provider will offer group risk benefits, including life, funeral, and hospitalization cover, to recognized artists and athletes over a period of three years. The initiative aims to support the wellbeing of artists and athletes practicing within the industry, ensuring timely and empathetic risk management and support services.

Scope

The scope of the tender encompasses:

• Provision of group risk benefits to approximately 1,000 artists and athletes annually.
• Delivery of insurance cover including:
  • Life Cover: R100,000 lump sum on death.
  • Funeral Cover: R50,000 lump sum within 48 hours of claim.
  • Hospitalisation Assistance Plan: Up to R70,000 annually for medical expenses following hospital stays exceeding 72 hours.
• Management of the insurance program with pillars such as tailored benefits, timely processing, empathy, adaptability, and fraud detection.
• Provision of information, marketing, bereavement counseling, and health advice services.
• Management and administration of the insurance scheme over the three-year period, including regular reporting and claims processing.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for bidders include:

• Registration and licensing with the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA), with FSCA registration number clearly indicated.
• Capability to provide the specified group risk cover (life, funeral, hospitalization) with eligibility criteria:
  • Members aged 18 and older, actively practicing in their discipline.
  • Beneficiaries limited to children and spouses/life partners.
• Provision of customized hospitalization assistance for members aged 18-65, with direct payment to hospitals or specialists.
• Implementation of value-added services including marketing, public relations, bereavement counseling, and health advice.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and managing similar insurance programs, with a proven track record in the relevant industry.
• Ability to deliver services in accordance with the pillars of the program: tailored benefits, timely processing, empathy, adaptability, and fraud detection.
• Submission of comprehensive proposals including team composition, CVs, proof of professional memberships, and relevant experience.
• Compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks, including adherence to the Public Finance Management Act and Treasury Regulations.
• Provision of necessary documentation such as company profile, tax compliance, ownership certificates, and authorization letters.
