Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the implementation of Business Process Optimisation using Lean Manufacturing Principles in manufacturing companies. The goal is to support the CSIR in enhancing operational efficiency through expert management system consulting, gap analysis, development of standard operating procedures, and ensuring compliance across various manufacturing sectors.

Scope

The scope encompasses providing comprehensive consulting and support services to manufacturing companies across different sectors of the manufacturing value chain, including foundries, fabrication, and assembly. The services include:

• Gap analysis and standard operating procedures development
• Implementation of lean management principles
• Training and skills transfer aligned with accredited standards (merSETA/QCTO)
• Provision of tailored lean manufacturing approaches addressing technical and operational needs
• Seamless system integration with existing company systems
• Project management including timelines, milestones, and reporting

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the service provider must:

• Have over five years of experience in business process re-engineering or Lean Manufacturing implementation in diverse manufacturing sectors
• Demonstrate a proven track record with at least 20 previous lean manufacturing implementations, with minimum five in each sector (foundries, fabrication, assembly)
• Offer accredited training programs aligned with SAQA/merSETA standards, including relevant unit standards from Production Technology qualifications
• Provide a qualified cross-functional team with at least five experts experienced in lean manufacturing systems and principles
• Develop and present a detailed project schedule with timelines and milestones (e.g., Gantt chart)
• Ensure system integration capabilities and consider the maturity levels of beneficiary companies

• Extensive experience in lean manufacturing and business process re-engineering
• Proficiency in delivering accredited training programs in lean principles and good manufacturing practices
• Strong project management skills, including scheduling, milestone tracking, and reporting
