Objectives

The primary objective of this RFQ is to appoint a qualified service provider to support the finalisation of the Annual Financial Statements (AFS) for Alexkor SOC Ltd for the 2025/2026 financial year. The successful bidder will provide technical accounting and audit-readiness support, ensuring the AFS are accurate, complete, technically sound, and ready for audit submission by 31 May 2026. Additionally, the support aims to address audit findings, enhance compliance with IFRS, and facilitate the assembly of a comprehensive audit file.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Providing one Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) and one Accountant (BCom in accounting with Articles) to work with management from 04 May 2026 to 31 May 2026.
• Assisting with implementation of the audit action plan affecting the AFS and supporting schedules.
• Preparing, reviewing, and resolving reconciliations for key financial statement areas.
• Ensuring IFRS compliance and disclosure completeness in the AFS.
• Assembling a complete, organized, and reviewer-ready audit file with supporting documentation.
• Providing technical guidance on complex accounting issues.
• Supporting management in resolving review comments and audit queries.
• Transferring knowledge to the internal finance team on reconciliation and audit file standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the service provider include:

• Deployment of one CA(SA) with strong technical financial reporting experience and one Accountant (BCom with Articles).
• Experience in finalising annual financial statements, preparing reconciliations, and compiling audit files for complex entities.
• Demonstrable knowledge of IFRS and practical application of IFRS disclosure and recognition requirements.
• Experience working with public entities, PFMA-regulated environments, or similarly controlled reporting environments is advantageous.
• Availability to work on-site or in a hybrid arrangement in Alexander Bay, with support for after-hours and weekends if required.
• Provision of detailed start-up plans, resource deployment confirmation, and daily feedback during the engagement.

Skills Requirements

The skills and experience required include:

• Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in technical accounting, AFS preparation, and audit support.
• Accountant with a BCom in accounting, Articles, and at least 3 years post-qualification experience in technical accounting and reconciliations.
• Proven track record in finalising annual financial statements, preparing reconciliations, and compiling audit files for complex entities.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS standards and practical application in a public or regulated environment.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines, including after-hours and weekend support as needed.
• Effective communication skills for daily feedback and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
