Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the maintenance and repair of the Booster Pump House at George Airport. This includes performing scheduled preventative maintenance, repairs, overhauls, and ensuring operational reliability of the pump station and associated equipment to support airport water and fire safety systems.

Scope

The scope of work encompasses:

• Supply and installation of oil seals on diesel engines.
• Removal, overhaul, pressure testing, reinstallation, laser alignment, and testing of electric pumps.
• Provision of spares, repairs, and call-out services as required.
• Permitting and compliance activities.
• Preventative maintenance of booster pumps and auxiliaries on a monthly basis.
• Annual maintenance and testing of fire extinguishers.
• Testing, commissioning, and technical reporting of all activities.
• Coordination with ACSA maintenance and safety standards, including adherence to SANS standards and OHS Act 85 of 1993.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Use of specified pump and motor models (e.g., Curro DL 65-250, WEG motors, Lowara, Wilo).
• Proper disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of pumps and engines following manufacturer instructions.
• Pressure testing and laser alignment of pumps.
• Replacement of oil seals, valves, filters, and other critical components.
• Routine inspection of glands, seals, shafts, bearings, and couplings during operation.
• Compliance with safety standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials and safety documentation.
• Provision of detailed technical reports, job cards, and test results for invoicing and record-keeping.
• Adherence to scheduled maintenance programs as per Annex A & B, including monthly, yearly, and ad-hoc activities.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires the following skills and qualifications from the service provider and personnel:

• Relevant experience in pump maintenance, repair, and overhaul, with a minimum of 3-5 years demonstrated through reference letters and project documentation.
• Qualified personnel including artisans, artisans assistants, and technical specialists with SAQA-accredited trade tests or equivalent qualifications.
• Competence in mechanical and electrical pump systems, including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly.
• Ability to perform pressure testing, laser alignment, and troubleshooting of pump and motor assemblies.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, including SHE policies, risk assessments, and emergency procedures.
• Capability to prepare technical reports, job cards, and documentation compliant with standards.
• Availability of plant, equipment, and tools necessary for maintenance activities, including lifting gear, alignment tools, and testing equipment.
• Experience in working within operational environments, coordinating with airport safety and security protocols.
