Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure services for the renovation of staff accommodation at iSimangaliso Wetland Park, specifically addressing the refurbishment of Hornbill House which has sustained significant exterior and interior damage, rendering it unsafe for occupancy. The project aims to restore the structural integrity, safety, and internal finishes of the buildings, ensuring minimal disturbance to the park environment.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Refurbishment of roof, ceiling, floor finishes, and decking
• Electrical works, including addressing exposed wiring and damaged electrical components
• Plumbing works to repair or upgrade existing systems
• Mechanical works such as fire safety systems and air conditioning
• Internal finishes including built-in cupboards, painting, and related internal works

The project also involves ensuring safety and structural stability, addressing safety hazards such as debris, damaged flooring, and uneven surfaces, and complying with safety standards to prevent risks to occupants and visitors.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify:

• Completion of refurbishment works in accordance with the project scope and specifications
• Adherence to safety standards, including addressing structural integrity and electrical safety
• Implementation of works with minimal disturbance to the park environment
• Provision of all necessary materials, equipment, and skilled personnel
• Compliance with environmental and safety regulations, including proper disposal of debris and damaged materials
• Provision of internal finishes, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical installations as specified

Skills Requirements

The tender stipulates that key personnel must demonstrate the required qualifications and experience:

• Construction Project Manager: CV with minimum five years’ experience in construction of buildings, qualification in Built Environment (e.g., Diploma), and experience in project management
• Site Foreman: CV with minimum three years’ experience in construction, post-matric qualification in Built Environment, and relevant experience in construction supervision
• Construction Health and Safety Officer: Registered with SACPCMP, with proof of registration and relevant health and safety experience

Proof of qualifications must be certified copies not older than six months. Previous experience in similar projects must be demonstrated through references and completion certificates.
