Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to deliver working at heights training for PRASA KZN. The training aims to enhance safety and compliance for personnel working at heights, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties safely over a period of 12 months, as required.

Scope

The scope encompasses the provision of working at heights training services, including theoretical and practical components, at Durban Station. The training duration is specified as 3 days per session, covering topics such as basic fall arrest, rescue procedures, and related safety protocols. The training will be conducted as and when required over a 12-month period, with the possibility of multiple sessions.

Technical Requirements

• Training must be conducted at Durban Station or approved alternative venues.
• Courses should include modules on:
  • Basic Fall Arrest (1:15)
  • Rescue procedures (1:15)
• Training duration: 3 days per session.
• Training units must align with Unit Standard 229998 and 229995.
• Training materials and practical exercises must adhere to safety standards.
• Service provider must provide qualified trainers with relevant certifications and experience.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in delivering working at heights training, particularly in the rail or similar industries.
• Qualified trainers with appropriate certifications in fall arrest, rescue, and safety procedures.
• Ability to develop customized training content aligned with unit standards and safety regulations.
• Strong understanding of occupational health and safety legislation applicable to working at heights.
• Effective communication and training delivery skills to adult learners.
• Capacity to conduct practical assessments and provide certification upon successful completion.
