Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations for the design, manufacture, assembly, supply, installation, and commissioning of a feed hopper and screw feeder assembly. These components are intended for the PTFE Filter Destruction project, specifically to handle shredded PTFE candle filter waste particles smaller than 5 mm, facilitating their transport into a depolymerisation reactor. The equipment must meet specified technical and safety standards, ensuring reliable operation within the process parameters.

Scope

The scope of this tender encompasses:

• Design of the feed hopper and screw feeder assembly based on provided specifications and drawings.
• Fabrication and assembly of the equipment at the supplier’s facility.
• Delivery of the assembled unit to Necsa in Pelindaba.
• Installation and integration with existing systems at the procurement site.
• Performance of functional Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
• Commissioning and handover of the equipment for operational use.

The equipment must handle shredded PTFE filter waste with a capacity of approximately 5 to 20 kg/h, with a total volume capacity of 160 liters, and be capable of conveying material at a distance of 1 meter into the depolymerisation reactor.

Technical Requirements

General Specifications

• Handle shredded PTFE particles smaller than 5 mm in size.
• Overall assembly height approximately 1.91 meters.
• Feed hopper capacity: 160 liters, with a nominal discharge rate of 5 to 187 kg/h.
• Hopper made of mild steel, designed for free-flowing of shredded material, with features to prevent ball formation and cohesion.
• Hopper geometry should promote passive flow, eliminating the need for vibrators or agitators.
• Screw feeder with a diameter of 100 mm (or 160 mm as specified), capable of variable speeds between 50 and 300 rpm.
• Screw feeder powered by a 5-10 kW motor, capable of feeding at rates between 5 and 187 kg/h.
• Materials of construction must withstand temperatures up to 100°C, with the screw feeder preferably made of mild steel.
• Connection to the depolymerisation reactor via a 4-inch flange, with insulated spool and ceramic gaskets to manage heat transfer.

Design and Performance

• The assembly should be designed to facilitate free flow of shredded material, with features to prevent cohesion and ball formation.
• The equipment must be capable of handling moist and varied-shaped shredded PTFE waste.
• Design should incorporate passive flow promotion attributes, avoiding the need for external flow aids.
• The final dimensions and detailed design are to be determined by the supplier, adhering to the overall height and capacity specifications.

Qualification and Testing

• The bidder must have ISO 9001:2015 certification or equivalent, with at least five years of experience in designing and manufacturing hoppers and screw feeders.
• Provide a list of previous clients with similar equipment supplied.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests at the supplier’s facility, demonstrating equipment performance with shredded PTFE material, ensuring operational efficiency before delivery.
