Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider responsible for the emptying of septic tanks at King Phalo Airport (KPA) for a period not exceeding one (1) year. The service aims to ensure proper maintenance and sanitation of specified areas within the airport premises, complying with relevant safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Emptying septic tanks located at designated areas within King Phalo Airport, specifically:
  • Main Gate Septic Tank: 2500 Litres
  • Electrical Complex: 5000 Litres
  • Cargo Area: 5000 Litres
• Provision of necessary permits, safety measures, and compliance with airport and environmental standards.
• Coordination with airport authorities and adherence to security and safety protocols.
• Ensuring minimal disruption to airport operations during service delivery.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Provision of suitable, roadworthy vehicles equipped with identification signage and safety features (e.g., amber strobe lights).
• Compliance with all relevant aviation, health, safety, and environmental standards, including ICAO, ISO 14000, and South African legislation.
• Proper handling, disposal, and documentation of waste in accordance with environmental policies and regulations.
• Provision of qualified and trained staff capable of executing septic tank emptying safely and efficiently.
• Submission of safety files, method statements, and environmental management plans prior to commencement.
• Regular inspections, reporting, and record-keeping of service activities and equipment maintenance.

Skills Requirements

The skills and qualifications required from the service provider include:

• Qualified drivers and operators with valid licenses and relevant experience in septic tank servicing and waste management.
• Staff with knowledge of health and safety regulations, including OHS Act compliance and airport security protocols.
• First aid skills and competence in environmental and safety standards.
• Ability to prepare and submit safety, environmental, and operational documentation.
• Effective communication and coordination skills to liaise with airport authorities and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage waste disposal in accordance with environmental policies and regulations.
