Objectives

The primary objective of the research study is to understand the impact of competition practices on women, including young women and women with disabilities, and to identify how they can overcome barriers to access and participate effectively in the economy.

Secondary objectives include exploring issues that affect women in their diversity, assessing barriers to market entry and expansion, and providing insights to promote fair and equitable competition for women in South Africa.

Scope

The scope of the project encompasses:

• Analysis of competition for women, young women, and women with disabilities in South Africa.
• Conducting a literature and desk review on current market practices related to fair and equitable competition for these groups.
• Collection of primary data through research fieldwork.
• Data analysis and development of a comprehensive research report.
• Presentation of findings tailored for specific platforms.

Technical Requirements

The service provider must:

• Adopt a mixed research methodology combining quantitative and qualitative approaches.
• Engage in consultative processes with relevant stakeholders and organizations to build consensus on measures for fair and equitable competition.
• Provide a detailed step-by-step protocol and procedures for executing the assignment.
• Develop a high-level inception report outlining the research approach.
• Deliver a final research report with findings, recommendations, and infographics.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer should possess:

• Expertise in mixed-methods research, including both qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.
• Experience in conducting socio-economic and market research, particularly related to gender, disability, and inclusion issues.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and consultative skills.
• Ability to develop comprehensive reports and presentations tailored for diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of South African socio-economic context, gender dynamics, and competition policy.
