Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a qualified and experienced service provider to conduct horticulture training for municipal staff, specifically covering key horticultural skills aligned with unit standards 264190, 264176, 264058, 264036, and 264186. The training aims to enhance the skills of six employees in areas such as planting, pruning, safety, irrigation installation, and tree felling, culminating in the issuance of certificates.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Conducting horticulture training for 6 employees based on specified unit standards.
• Covering topics such as planting herbaceous plants, pruning shrubs, health and safety principles, installing irrigation systems, and tree felling.
• Providing all necessary training materials, including all non-provided resources, and issuing certificates upon completion.
• Provision of training refreshments (breakfast and lunch).
• Utilizing the municipality's training venue and supplying all other required training materials.
• Submitting a signed training closeout report.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that the service provider must:

• Demonstrate proof of accreditation from relevant SETA and QCTO bodies for the specified unit standards.
• Ensure training covers the following unit standards:
  • 264190 – Plant and establish herbaceous plants
  • 264176 – Prune and shape shrubs
  • 264058 – Utilise health and safety principles in horticulture
  • 264036 – Install irrigation sprinklers and emitters
  • 264186 – Conduct tree felling
• Provide all training materials and resources not supplied by the municipality.
• Issue accredited certificates at the end of the training.
• Ensure the training venue is provided by the municipality.
• Submit a signed training closeout report post-training.
• Payments will only be processed upon receipt of accredited certificates and proof of completion.

Skills Requirements

The successful service provider must possess:

• Relevant accreditation from SETA and QCTO for the specified unit standards.
• Proven experience in conducting horticulture training, particularly in the topics outlined.
• Ability to develop and deliver training programs aligned with national standards.
• Capability to provide all necessary training materials and resources.
• Good facilitation and communication skills to effectively train municipal staff.
• Ability to produce and submit comprehensive training reports and certificates.
