Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to procure professional geotechnical and geohydrological services for the assessment, investigation, and design support related to storm-damaged schools in Limpopo Province. Specifically, the services aim to conduct soil, groundwater, and site investigations to inform safe and sustainable construction, renovation, and rehabilitation of Nkota Secondary School, Mookotsi Primary School, and other related infrastructure projects.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Conducting geotechnical investigations at the specified school sites, including soil sampling, testing, and analysis.
• Performing geophysical surveys and site assessments to determine soil and groundwater conditions.
• Preparing detailed geotechnical reports with findings, recommendations, and foundation design parameters.
• Carrying out borehole drilling, yield testing, and water quality analysis for geohydrological studies.
• Assessing existing structures for foundation stability and potential failure causes related to storm damage.
• Providing technical support for the design and construction of stormwater management, sewer reticulation, water supply, and related infrastructure.
• Delivering all required documentation, including siting reports, geotechnical zones plans, and final reports.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the services include:

• Provision of a professional registered with ECSA or SACNASP as PrEng, PrTechEng, or Pr. Sci. Nat. with at least 3 years post-registration experience in geotechnical engineering.
• Carrying out site investigations involving excavation of inspection pits, sampling, logging, and profiling according to South African standards (SANS 10299-1, 10299-2, 10299-4).
• Performing laboratory testing such as grading, CBR, Atterberg limits, and water quality analysis in accredited laboratories.
• Developing comprehensive geotechnical and geohydrological reports that include site description, regional geology, groundwater levels, yield testing, and recommendations for foundation design and water management.
• Preparing siting reports with detailed methodology, site location, and investigation scope, signed by a registered professional.
• Providing project deliverables within specified timeframes, including investigation reports, geotechnical zones plans, and final recommendations.
• Ensuring all work complies with relevant South African standards and regulations, and that reports are signed off by qualified professionals.
