Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, install, and commission a Temperature and Humidity Controlled Room / Clean Room at Armscor Dockyard. The facility must meet specified environmental standards to support accurate operations, calibration, and testing activities, ensuring compliance with relevant quality and hygiene standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Design, supply, and installation of a standalone or attached clean room with specified dimensions and structural features.
• Construction using corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel or marine-grade aluminium.
• Installation of tempered glass panels, doors with automatic closing mechanisms, and structural supports.
• Provision of electrical connections, power supply, and necessary accessories.
• Commissioning, testing, and validation to ensure environmental parameters are maintained within specified limits.
• Provision of documentation including manuals, maintenance schedules, warranties, and spare parts lists.
• Training Armscor personnel on operation and maintenance.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Environmental control: Temperature at 20°C ±2°C and humidity between 30% - 50%.
• Construction: Dimensions of 6000mm (W) x 3500mm (H) x 8600mm (L), with transportable panel sizes not exceeding 2000mm x 2200mm x 3800mm and weight limit of 2000kg.
• Materials: Corrosion-resistant stainless steel grade 304 or marine-grade aluminium for structural components; tempered glass for panels.
• Design: Three-sided structure with front, right, and top panels; glass panels of minimum 1m x 1.5m; double doors of minimum 2.3m x 2.3m.
• HVAC: Either standalone or integrated with existing building HVAC systems, with digital data logging and alarms for deviations.
• Electrical: Power supply within 5m, compliant with SAN 10142-1 standards, including electrical accessories and connections.
• Compliance: Must meet ISO 14644-1, ISO 14644-5, and ISO 846:2019 standards for cleanliness, operation, and hygiene.
• Documentation: Manuals, maintenance schedules, warranty, critical spares list, and parts catalogues.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Registration with the CIDB at a contractor grading designation of 3 GB or 3 ME or higher, or capability to register prior to evaluation.
• Experience in installing and commissioning steel and glass panels with HVAC systems, evidenced by at least one relevant project completed within the last 5 years.
• Capability to supply and support systems locally in South Africa, including spare parts and maintenance support from OEM or accredited agents.
• Provision of qualified personnel for installation, commissioning, and training.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards as per Armscor SHE management practices.
