Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit quotations from qualified suppliers for the supply and delivery of 3 fully encapsulated Class A Level A Hazmat suits that meet NFPA 1971:2018 standards or equivalent. The aim is to procure high-quality protective gear suitable for hazardous material handling, ensuring safety and compliance with relevant standards.

Scope

The scope of this tender includes:

• Provision of three (3) fully encapsulated Hazmat suits in specified sizes (S/M, L/XL, XXL/XXXL).
• Delivery of the suits to the Swellendam Fire Department premises at 1 Craig Street, Swellendam 6740.
• Ensuring the suits conform to detailed technical specifications, including design, materials, testing, warranty, and warranty conditions.
• Adherence to delivery timelines, with delivery expected within 7 days after the purchase order is placed.
• Provision of technical data sheets and proof of compliance with functionality and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

The suits must meet the following technical specifications:

• Gas-proof, vapor-tight, fully encapsulating chemical-resistant suit with double-taped seams.
• Steel-toed boots with shanks, inner and outer chemical-resistant gloves.
• Design features include sewn and double heat-sealed/taped seams, 48" (+- 1.2m) gas-tight PVC zipper with storm flaps, multi-layer chemical barrier fabric, knee reinforcements, and expanded back for SCBA gear.
• Color options: High-Viz Orange or Lime Green.
• Sizes: S/M, L/XL, XXL/XXXL.
• Integrated socks matching suit barrier material, outer boot flaps, and chemical protective face shield with anti-fog visor system.
• Suit must be tested against ASTM F1001 challenge list under ASTM F739 methodology, MIL-STD-282, and/or NFPA 1994-2001 standards.
• Suppliers must submit technical data sheets; products must score a minimum of 70 out of 100 points for functionality.
• Warranty: Manufacturer’s warranty included, with specific testing and warranty conditions outlined.

Skills and Capabilities Requirements

Suppliers must demonstrate:

• Relevant experience in supplying and delivering hazardous material protective suits, supported by reference letters and project history.
• Ability to manage logistics effectively, including scheduling and timely delivery within the specified area.
• Product quality assurance, including manufacturer’s warranty and compliance with testing standards.
• Capacity to provide technical data sheets and proof of compliance with technical specifications.
• Experience in handling specialized safety equipment and adherence to safety standards.
• Availability within the Overberg District or Western Cape Province to ensure cost-effective delivery.
