Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver fall arrest systems, rescue equipment, and kits to the Eastern Cape Operating Unit on an “as and when required” basis over a period of three years. The aim is to ensure the provision of compliant, reliable, and safe fall arrest and rescue equipment that meets specified standards and technical requirements.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement of complete fall arrest systems, including full body harnesses, work positioning lanyards, safety lanyards, attachment straps, connectors, and associated accessories. The equipment must adhere to relevant standards (such as SABS EN 361, EN 354, EN 355, and SANS 50362, 50365, 50795) and be suitable for rescue and fall arrest purposes. The delivery will be on an “as and when required” basis over a three-year period, ensuring availability and compliance throughout the contract duration.

Technical Requirements

• Product Compliance: All equipment must meet specified standards including SABS EN 361, EN 354, EN 355, SANS 50362, 50365, and 50795.
• Components: Equipment includes full body harnesses, work positioning lanyards, safety lanyards, attachment straps, connectors, and pylon hooks.
• Design & Manufacturing: Products must be designed for ease of fitting, adjusting, removing, and movement, with secure webbing and straps to prevent disconnection.
• Marking & Documentation: All components should be clearly marked with manufacturer details, model and serial numbers, standards compliance, and warranty information. Labels must have protective coverings.
• Safety & Strength: Connectors and hooks must have a minimum static strength of >15kN, with pylon hooks having a gate opening of at least 60mm. Safety lanyards should include energy absorbers and be fitted with twist-lock karabiners or pylon hooks.
• Manuals & Documentation: Complete user manuals, warranty details, maintenance instructions, and customer service records must be supplied with each kit.

Skills Requirements

• Proven experience in manufacturing or supplying fall arrest and rescue equipment compliant with relevant standards.
• Ability to provide detailed documentation, including marking, manuals, and warranty information.
• Knowledge of safety standards such as SABS EN 361, EN 354, EN 355, and SANS standards.
• Capability to supply equipment that is easy to fit, adjust, and operate, ensuring user safety and comfort.
• Strong quality assurance processes to ensure all products meet the specified technical and safety standards.
