Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to ensure the supply and delivery of fuses across all areas in the Matla Power Station over a period of five (5) years. Additionally, the tender emphasizes alignment with Eskom’s SDL&I (Skills Development, Local Content, and Industrialisation) objectives, including promoting transformation, skills development, local procurement, and socio-economic benefits in line with national imperatives.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of fuses for all areas within the Matla Power Station for a duration of 60 months. The contract involves:

• Provision of fuse products as specified in the tender documentation
• Ensuring local procurement content, with a focus on creating and retaining jobs and skills development in South Africa
• Implementation of skills development initiatives, including bursaries and training for previously disadvantaged groups
• Compliance with Eskom’s SDL&I policies and reporting requirements

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Supply of fuses meeting Eskom’s specifications and quality standards
• Adherence to delivery schedules over the five-year period
• Provision of documentation demonstrating local procurement content and B-BBEE status
• Implementation of skills development programs, including sourcing and training candidates from disadvantaged groups
• Monitoring and reporting on SDL&I compliance, including corrective actions if necessary

Skills Requirements

The skills requirements focus on fostering local skills development and employment, including:

• Skilling one candidate for every R30 million spent, with a minimum bursary duration of 24 months
• Training initiatives targeting unemployed graduates and school leavers, particularly from disadvantaged communities
• Proposals for skills development programs, including intake and outcome details for bursaries and training
• Demonstrating positive progress in skills development activities on a monthly basis
• Approaching relevant SETAs and tax authorities to access grants, subsidies, and incentives for skills development
