Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver a comprehensive range of hypodermic syringes, needles, bloodletting devices, biopsy needles, spinal needles, epidural needles, regional anaesthesia needles, vascular access needles, and related consumables that meet specified technical standards and safety requirements. The aim is to ensure the availability of high-quality, sterile, pyrogen-free, and latex-free medical devices suitable for various clinical procedures, including blood collection, injections, biopsies, regional anaesthesia, and spinal procedures.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement of a wide array of medical needles and syringes, including but not limited to:

• Hypodermic needles of various gauges and lengths
• Insulin syringes and tuberculin syringes
• Blood collection needles with safety features
• Bloodletting lancets and devices
• Biopsy needles (semi-automatic, vacuum-assisted, co-axial, punch, spring-loaded)
• Spinal needles (Quincke bevel, pencil point, with introducers)
• Regional anaesthesia needles (insulated, echogenic, with nerve stimulator compatibility)
• Vascular access needles with 360º ultrasound visibility
• Needles for non-palpable breast lesion localization
• Specialized needles such as BCG, aspiration, and fill needles
• Associated accessories including tube holders, safety devices, syringes for arterial blood, bulb syringes, and acupuncture needles

The delivery must comply with relevant standards such as SANS 1124-1, 1124-2, 8537:2016, ISO 10993, and other applicable safety and quality standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the items include:

• Sterility, single-use, and individually peel-packed packaging
• Manufactured from high-quality stainless steel, plastic, or medical-grade materials
• Needles must have specific gauges, lengths, bevel angles, and features such as echogenicity, insulation, and compatibility with ultrasound or nerve stimulation
• Blood collection needles must have safety features, including integral safety shields and locking mechanisms
• Bloodletting lancets must have adjustable depth settings, silicone coating, and precise movement technology
• Biopsy needles should have features like echogenic markings, manual or spring-loaded firing modes, and co-axial systems
• Spinal and epidural needles must have transparent hubs, stable stylets, and appropriate bevel angles, with options for extra-length and different gauges
• Vascular access needles must be 360º ultrasound visible with long, flexible, and insulated shafts
• Accessories such as tube holders and safety devices must be compatible, easy to handle, and safe for clinical use

Skills and Skills Requirements

The successful tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in supplying medical needles and syringes, with references to similar projects
• Technical expertise in manufacturing or sourcing devices that meet international and national standards
• Capability to ensure sterility, safety, and quality control throughout the supply chain
• Knowledge of applicable medical device standards, safety regulations, and compliance requirements
• Ability to provide technical documentation, certificates of conformity, and test reports from accredited laboratories
• Capacity for timely delivery, inventory management, and after-sales support
• Qualified personnel with expertise in medical device specifications, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance
