Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver outside plant mechanical bearings for Matla Power Station over a period of five (5) years. The contract is on an "as and when required" basis, aiming to ensure the availability of quality bearings to support the station's operational needs and maintenance activities.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement and delivery of mechanical bearings suitable for outside plant applications at Matla Power Station. It includes compliance with specified quality standards, documentation, and technical requirements as detailed in the tender documentation. The scope also involves adherence to quality management, environmental, and safety standards, and the provision of necessary documentation such as quality plans, inspection and test plans, and certification evidence.

Technical Requirements

• Provision of certified ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System documentation or evidence of equivalent QMS compliance.
• Submission of a comprehensive Contract Quality Plan aligned with ISO 10005 guidelines, detailing roles, responsibilities, and quality assurance strategies.
• Development and submission of a Quality Control Plan (QCP) or Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) demonstrating how quality will be controlled during manufacturing, handling, and delivery.
• Demonstration of control over externally provided processes, products, and services, including supplier assessments and audits.
• Provision of relevant certification, audit reports, and records of management reviews, internal audits, and supplier evaluations.
• Compliance with environmental management requirements, including waste management, hazardous waste handling, and environmental permits if applicable.
• Completion of required forms and documentation, including signed Form A and any additional scope-specific requirements.

Skills and Competencies Requirements

• Proven experience in supplying mechanical bearings and related components for industrial or power station applications.
• Strong quality management capabilities, including ISO 9001 certification or equivalent, with documented procedures and audit reports.
• Ability to develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Quality Management Systems, Quality Control Plans, and Inspection and Test Plans.
• Competence in supplier evaluation, audit management, and control of externally provided processes and products.
• Environmental management expertise, particularly in waste management, hazardous materials handling, and compliance with environmental permits.
• Effective documentation skills, including preparing quality plans, audit reports, and compliance records.
• Ability to coordinate and communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including Eskom, suppliers, and environmental authorities.
