Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver polyurethane joint sealant for the rehabilitation of the canal at Qamata Irrigation Scheme in the Eastern Cape, as part of the DWS Construction South project. The aim is to ensure effective canal rehabilitation through the provision of high-quality sealant materials that meet specified technical standards.

Scope

The scope of the tender includes:

• Supply and delivery of polyurethane joint sealant, primer, polyethylene joint former, caulking gun, and solvent-based cleaning agent.
• Delivery of materials to the Qamata site within 7 days of order placement.
• Provision of all necessary equipment, transportation, and associated services required for the successful completion of the project.
• Adherence to specified quantities, delivery schedules, and quality standards as outlined in the project specifications.

The work is located approximately 62 km east of Queenstown, with specific access instructions and site conditions detailed in the tender documents.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications for the materials and services include:

• Polyurethane Joint Sealant: 600ml moisture-curing, elastic joint sealant resistant to water, seawater, alkalis, cement slurry, diesel, and jet fuel. Must have elongation at break of 600%, elastic recovery of 90%, tear propagation resistance of 8.0 N/mm, Shore hardness between 20-37, and secant tensile modulus of 0.42 to 0.6 N/mm² at 100% elongation.
• Primer: For bond adhesion, preventing chemical reactions with water, with a viscosity of 10 MPa.
• Polyethylene Joint Former: 10mm size, similar or equal to Jointex, providing a consistent groove for sealant application.
• Caulking Gun: Suitable for polyurethane sausage sealant application.
• Cleaning Agent: Solvent-based, for cleaning faces and tools, with a shelf life of 24 months from production.

All materials must comply with the detailed specifications and initialed by the bidder to confirm compliance.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in supplying polyurethane sealants and related materials for construction or infrastructure projects.
• Capability to deliver materials within the specified timeframe (7 days after order).
• Competence in handling and transporting chemical and construction materials safely and in accordance with environmental standards.
• Ability to provide technical support, including proper application, supervision, and training if required.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
• Provision of qualified personnel and suitable vehicles for transportation and delivery.
• Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., SANS) and adherence to project specifications.

Additionally, bidders should have the capacity to manage logistics, quality control, and documentation processes effectively to meet the project requirements.
