Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver ready-mix concrete for the Riviersonderend GWS/Theewaterskloof Dam Project in the Western Cape, on behalf of the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) Construction South. The aim is to ensure timely procurement of quality concrete to support construction and maintenance activities related to water control measures and infrastructure at the specified site.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of ready-mix concrete meeting specified standards and technical requirements. The project involves providing concrete in specified quantities, adhering to quality, safety, and environmental standards, and ensuring delivery within stipulated timeframes to the designated site in Villiersdorp, Western Cape. The work includes compliance with project specifications, transportation, and logistical arrangements for timely delivery, as well as supporting documentation and quality assurance processes.

Technical Requirements

• Concrete must be 20/19 maximum aggregate size, complying with SANS 878.
• Concrete mix design to be supplied by the bidder and approved prior to award.
• Slump of delivered concrete must be between 70mm and 90mm.
• Strength requirements: 25 MPa concrete to reach specified strength within 28 days.
• Quality checks and cube strength tests to be conducted regularly, with results submitted to the Department.
• Concrete to be supplied in loads of 3m³ to 5m³ per delivery.
• All materials and mix designs must meet relevant SANS standards, including SANS 1200G, SANS 50197, SANS 504413, and SANS 878.
• Delivery vehicles must be roadworthy, fit for purpose, and adhere to environmental specifications.
• Transportation costs to be included in the bid, with delivery scheduled within 7 days of order placement.
• Compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations during transportation and delivery.

Skills Requirements

• Bidder must demonstrate technical expertise in concrete mix design and quality assurance.
• Ability to conduct and submit cube strength tests and quality control documentation.
• Experience in logistics and transportation management for timely delivery of construction materials.
• Knowledge of relevant South African standards (SANS) and project specifications.
• Capacity to coordinate with the Department’s designated contact persons for scheduling and delivery arrangements.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on-site and during transportation.
• Provision of qualified personnel for supervision, quality checks, and documentation.
