Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver rootstocks and scion pear cultivars on BP1 rootstock, sourced from recognized and registered nurseries, in accordance with specified regulations and standards.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of pear scion cultivars on BP1 rootstock as per the attached list, with four plants of each cultivar.
• Provision of pear rootstock cultivars on their own roots, as per the attached list, with four plants of each cultivar.
• Individual labelling of each plant with cultivar/rootstock name.
• Proper packing in separate plastic bags with roots covered in gel to prevent drying out.
• Delivery to ARC Infruitec-Nietvoorbij, Stellenbosch, by the end of July 2026, with prior communication.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Source from recognized and registered nurseries complying with the Plant Improvement Act (Act No. 53 of 1976).
• Each plant must be individually labelled with cultivar or rootstock name.
• Packaging must ensure roots are covered in gel and plants are packed separately or in labelled groups.
• Delivery must be arranged in advance, with delivery completed by the specified deadline.
• Quotation must specify the cost per tree and total cost, including VAT and delivery.

Skills and Experience Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate:

• Experience in sourcing and supplying certified nursery stock in compliance with relevant regulations.
• Ability to provide proof of nursery recognition and registration.
• Capability to deliver quality plants that meet technical specifications.
• Experience in proper packaging and labelling of nursery stock for transport and delivery.
• Competence in coordinating delivery schedules and communication with ARC representatives.
