Objectives

The primary objectives of this tender are to supply and deliver signage and labels for control panels, relay panels, transformers, metering panels, IDF frames, AC/DC distribution boards, RTU cabinets, BME cabinets, and cable markers. The goal is to ensure all equipment is properly labeled, identifiable, and compliant with technical standards to enhance operational safety, efficiency, and maintenance within the Ntcsa-central Grid over a period of 60 months.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of materials, engraving methods, fixing techniques, and character sizes for equipment labels.
• Labeling of protection bays, transformer panels, metering panels, IDF frames, AC/DC panels, RTU and BME cabinets, and cable markers.
• Labeling of test blocks, ratios, earthings, and other relevant components.
• Design and installation of outdoor labels, cable markers, and cable layout management to ensure neatness and clarity.
• Labeling of specific equipment such as protection bays, transformers, meters, IDF frames, and panels with specified sizes and character dimensions.
• Compliance with specified standards such as SANS 1186 and adherence to safety and quality requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements focus on the quality, durability, and compliance of labels and signage, including:

• Use of materials suitable for indoor and outdoor environments, such as vitreous enamel, ABS/Chromadek, and anodized aluminum.
• Label sizes generally 400x36mm with 20mm character size, with specific labels for different equipment types.
• Proper labeling of feeders, transformers, meters, test blocks, ratios, and other equipment with clear, engraved, black lettering on white backgrounds.
• Inclusion of test block labels with specified sizes and character dimensions.
• Labeling of IDF frames with specific sizes and engraved labels for vertical A and B labels.
• Proper earth and cabling labels, ensuring visibility and durability, including drilled holes for cable markers.
• Neat cable layout, harnessing, and proper trunking to avoid clutter and ensure safety.
• Compliance with relevant standards and provision of samples for approval prior to full supply.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The successful bidder must demonstrate:

• Proficiency in engraving and labeling techniques suitable for electrical and control equipment.
• Experience in supplying signage and labels for substations, control panels, and outdoor electrical infrastructure.
• Capability to produce durable, weather-resistant labels using specified materials such as vitreous enamel, Chromadek, and anodized aluminum.
• Ability to design labels that meet specified sizes, character fonts, and standards like SANS 1186.
• Skills in quality control, including sample submission, compliance verification, and adherence to safety and technical standards.
• Knowledge of electrical safety signage standards and best practices for outdoor and indoor labeling.
