Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver steel structure materials on an as-and-when-required basis at Matimba Power Station over a period of 5 years. The project aims to support the maintenance, structural integrity, and operational efficiency of the power station by providing high-quality steel components that meet specified standards and technical requirements.

Scope

The scope encompasses the procurement, supply, and timely delivery of various steel structure materials as detailed in the scope of work documentation. It applies throughout Matimba Power Station and includes:

• Provision of steel materials such as angles, beams, plates, pipes, sheets, and tubes as specified in the detailed material scope list.
• Delivery of materials on an as-and-when-required basis over a 5-year period.
• Adherence to technical specifications, quality standards, and safety regulations.
• Management of related documentation, certificates, and compliance requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Supply of steel materials such as angles, beams, plates, bars, sheets, tubes, and gratings with specified dimensions, grades, and processing standards (e.g., BS 4360, EN43A, SABS 1431, ASTM A240, etc.).
• Materials must meet relevant industry standards and specifications, including proper certification and traceability.
• Provision of detailed method statements demonstrating understanding of scope, quality control, handling, and transportation procedures.
• Submission of material certificates, warranties, and compliance documentation.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental policies, including environmental impact mitigation and low-risk activity classification.
• Implementation of quality management systems aligned with ISO 9001 standards.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The contractor and their personnel must possess:

• Technical expertise in steel fabrication, handling, and transportation.
• Experience in supplying steel materials to industrial or power station projects, with relevant references and proven track record.
• Qualified personnel capable of preparing and submitting detailed method statements, quality control plans, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of applicable standards, codes, and safety regulations.
• Capability to manage documentation, certificates, and compliance records effectively.
• Skills in environmental management and mitigation related to steel supply activities.
• Ability to implement and monitor quality assurance processes in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
