Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply and deliver switch disconnectors and selector switches to Lethabo Power Station over a five-year period on an “as and when required” basis. The procurement aims to ensure the availability of quality electrical switching equipment that meets Eskom’s technical and safety standards, supports operational reliability, and aligns with Eskom’s environmental and safety policies.

Scope

The scope encompasses the supply and delivery of various types of switch disconnectors and selector switches, including associated accessories, in accordance with detailed technical specifications. The scope includes:

• Provision of new, merchantable quality equipment compliant with technical standards.
• Packaging, labelling, and marking as per Eskom requirements.
• Delivery to specified locations within Eskom’s site during the contract period.
• Provision of minimum spares and related technical documentation.
• Adherence to safety, health, and environmental regulations during delivery and installation.

The contract covers a five-year period, with the possibility of multiple deliveries based on Eskom’s requirements.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements include:

• Compliance with Eskom’s technical specifications, standards (IEC, VDE, SANS), and drawings.
• Use of approved components and materials that meet safety and environmental standards.
• Proper packaging and labelling to prevent damage during transit and storage.
• Provision of test certificates, manuals, and quality documentation with each delivery.
• Ability to perform factory acceptance tests if required, with prior approval.
• Delivery within specified timeframes, with minimum stock levels maintained for long lead items.
• Adherence to Eskom’s safety policies, including life-saving rules and environmental management procedures.
• Provision of technical data, drawings, and manuals as specified in the contract.

Skills and Competency Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

• Proven experience in supplying electrical switchgear, particularly switch disconnectors and selector switches, to industrial or power station environments.
• Technical capability to meet Eskom’s specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
• Qualified personnel with relevant certifications and training in electrical equipment, safety, and environmental management.
• Ability to provide comprehensive technical documentation, test certificates, and manuals.
• Capacity to manage logistics, packaging, and timely delivery of equipment.
• Knowledge of Eskom’s safety policies, environmental regulations, and quality management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001).
• Demonstrated ability to maintain minimum stock levels for critical long lead items.
• Experience in working within a regulated environment with strict safety and environmental compliance.
• Capability to provide technical support, after-sales service, and warranty commitments.
