Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, cut, bend, and deliver mild steel and high-yield steel reinforcing bars for construction east to Mthatha Dam Siphon in the Eastern Cape Province. The service aims to ensure the provision of reinforcement steel that meets specified standards for a period of 6 months, supporting the construction activities related to the dam siphon project.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Supply of high-yield stress deformed bars (yield stress of 450 MPa) in various diameters (12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm) as per attached bending schedules.
• Cutting, bending, and delivery of reinforcement bars in accordance with specified standards and schedules.
• Supply and delivery of welded mesh fabric reference 617, conforming to SANS 1024 standards.
• Provision of reinforcement materials with appropriate certification and compliance with local content requirements.
• Delivery to the designated site at the Department of Water and Sanitation Construction East site, situated at Mthatha Dam, Ncise Location, Eastern Cape, during specified working hours.
• Supply of necessary documentation, including certificates of origin, local content, and compliance with standards.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the tender include:

• Use of reinforcement bars conforming to the latest issue of SANS 920, with a yield stress of 450 MPa.
• Supply of welded mesh fabric in accordance with SANS 1024, latest edition.
• Certification by recognized local content and production organizations, ensuring compliance with the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (DTIC) standards.
• Supply of reinforcement materials with appropriate markings, tags indicating bar mark number, weight, size, etc.
• Adherence to the specified delivery schedule, with delivery commencing within 10 working days of order placement.
• Provision of all necessary documentation, including manufacturer’s supply confirmation, certificates of compliance, and local content declarations.
• Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards, including PPE requirements for site entry.
• Insurance of goods for the full replacement value during transit and handling, with warranty for 12 months.
• Pricing to include all costs, taxes, and levies, with prices tendered in Rand and inclusive of VAT.
