Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, and construct a poultry structure complete with equipment for Desiree Booysen Farm in Dr Beyers Naudee Local Municipality, Sarah Baartman District. The project aims to establish a broiler poultry facility with all necessary infrastructure, equipment, and systems to support poultry farming activities.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Construction of an 18m x 9m poultry broiler house with associated water tanks, piping, and water reticulation systems.
• Provision of all construction materials, plant, and equipment necessary for site works, including earthworks, concrete, masonry, roofing, ceilings, doors, windows, and fittings.
• Installation of poultry equipment such as drinkers, feeders, water tanks, and water systems.
• Provision of electrical installations, lighting, and ventilation systems.
• Implementation of environmental management, health and safety, and social considerations as per specifications.
• Site establishment, management, and coordination of all construction activities to meet project timelines.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Construction in accordance with the specifications outlined in the "Specifications of Construction Materials and Methods for Agricultural On-farm Infrastructure" (Third Edition, October 2024).
• Use of approved plant, materials, and equipment, with prior approval of the plant and materials before use.
• Compliance with relevant standards including SABS 1200 series, Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, and environmental management plans.
• Design and installation of water reticulation, drainage, and water harvesting systems.
• Construction of steel portal frame and roof covering with IBR sheeting, gutters, and water drainage systems.
• Provision of internal finishes, ceilings, tiles, doors, windows, and poultry equipment as specified.
• Implementation of environmental controls, waste management, and rehabilitation measures post-construction.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate:

• Proven experience in constructing poultry structures and agricultural infrastructure, with relevant project references.
• Competence in civil, structural, and building works including earthworks, concrete, masonry, roofing, and finishes.
• Qualified personnel in project management, site supervision, health and safety, and environmental management.
• Capability to install and commission poultry equipment, water systems, and electrical installations.
• Knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, and environmental and safety protocols.
• Ability to manage site logistics, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure quality control and compliance throughout the project duration.
