Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, construct, and erect a 15-meter ET Tower at Paradise Radio Station within the Limlanga Cluster in Limpopo. The tower is intended to support telecommunication infrastructure, specifically for SCADA RTU and telephone lines, ensuring reliable communication at the specified site.

Scope

The scope encompasses the following key activities:

• Supply, delivery, and erection of a 15-meter tower at Paradise SS.
• Design and manufacturing of tower components, including foundation design in accordance with provided drawings and soil conditions.
• Fabrication of the tower using specified steel grades (S355JR, S275JR, S355J0) with appropriate impact properties and corrosion protection.
• Preparation and submission of manufacturing drawings and other required documentation for review and approval.
• Construction of the tower, including foundation, assembly, and installation, adhering to Eskom standards and quality assurance protocols.
• Earthing and bonding of the tower as per specified standards.
• Provision of site-specific documentation such as site drawings, earth test certificates, and safety declarations.
• No dismantling of existing towers is required.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Design and construction in accordance with Eskom standards (240-59967638, 240-56872313, etc.).
• Use of steel materials with specified grades and impact properties, including Charpy V-notch testing for impact energy requirements.
• Galvanizing of steel components with a minimum thickness of 85µm to resist corrosion, considering the regional corrosion rate (<10 µm/year).
• Fabrication must follow a Quality Management System based on ISO 9001 or equivalent, with prior steel inspection notification to Eskom.
• Assembly of prototype components to verify fit and modifications before final construction.
• Construction of foundation as per the provided layout and soil conditions, with Eskom geotechnical report support.
• Installation of cable trays, antenna mounting brackets, fencing, and other accessories as specified.
• Compliance with environmental and aviation standards, including lighting and obstacle marking.

Skills Requirements

The contractor must demonstrate:

• Proficiency in structural steel fabrication and tower construction, adhering to quality and safety standards.
• Capability to design and implement foundations suitable for the site’s soil conditions.
• Experience with galvanizing processes and corrosion protection measures.
• Ability to prepare and submit detailed manufacturing and construction drawings for approval.
• Knowledge of electrical earthing and bonding standards specific to radio station infrastructure.
• Competence in project management, including timely inspection notifications and documentation submission.
• Compliance with Eskom’s environmental, safety, and technical standards throughout the project lifecycle.
