Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to engage a qualified and experienced environmental consultant to conduct studies and investigations necessary for the planned and current upgrades and repairs at the Afrikaanse Taalmuseum en -monument (ATM) in Paarl. The consultant will assess environmental impacts, support project planning, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation to facilitate the upgrades and repairs.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Assessment of identified projects across two sites: the Afrikaanse Taalmonument with amphitheatre and bistro, and the Afrikaanse Taalmuseum.
• Preparation of work plans capturing all levels of environmental support, to be approved by the ATM CEO.
• Provision of standard environmental services, which may include:
• Pre-application phase activities such as liaising with authorities and stakeholder engagement.
• Basic assessment, scoping, and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) including public participation.
• Compliance monitoring, site inspections, and audits.
• Work will be executed on an ad hoc basis over a period of 3 years, with briefing sessions and project briefings provided as needed.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements for the environmental consultancy include:

• Projects must be not older than 2018 if involving Environmental Impact Assessments or basic assessments.
• Provision of environmental services aligned with project specifications and legislative requirements.
• Assessment of environmental impacts for projects at two specified sites.
• Preparation and submission of work plans, reports, and supporting documentation for approval.
• Engagement with relevant authorities and stakeholders during the project lifecycle.
• Adherence to project timelines, with specific durations to be discussed and agreed upon at project allocation.
• Provision of detailed cost estimates, hours allocation, and project execution plans, including milestones for invoicing.
• Registration on the Central Supplier Database and compliance with minimum requirements, including submission of all necessary documentation such as company registration, tax clearance, B-BBEE certificates, and testimonials.
