Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a qualified service provider to carry out the servicing, testing, maintenance, repairs, replacement, and upgrades to the latest technology of all fire fighting equipment within the KwaZulu-Natal Operating Unit, Central East Cluster. The work is to be performed on an as-and-when-required basis over a period of 36 months.

Scope

The scope includes:

• Provision of servicing, testing, maintenance, repairs, and replacements of fire fighting equipment.
• Upgrading fire fighting equipment to the latest technology where applicable.
• Work to be conducted across the KwaZulu-Natal Operating Unit, Central East Cluster.
• Services to be delivered on an as-and-when-required basis over a 36-month period.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements encompass:

• Compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legal and other requirements, including signed acknowledgment forms and submission of a comprehensive OHS plan addressing project risks.
• Submission of detailed costing for OHS management, broken down by scope of work.
• Provision of a Baseline OHS Risk Assessment, including methodology used for risk identification, assessment, and management.
• Valid Letter of Good Standing (COIDA or equivalent) relevant to the industry.
• OHS policy signed by the CEO, complying with OHS Act Section 7.
• OHS competency documentation, including CVs and qualifications for key personnel such as First Aiders, Incident Investigators, Risk Assessors, and Fall Protection Plan developers.
• Medical certificates issued by Occupational Medical Practitioners.
• Implementation of fall protection and rescue plans, including development and competency of responsible personnel.
• Submission of relevant certificates and assessments as specified.

Skills Requirements

The tenderer must demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:

• Competency in occupational health and safety management, including appointing qualified personnel for roles such as First Aider, Incident Investigator, Risk Assessor, and Fall Protection Plan developer.
• Relevant experience and qualifications for fire equipment servicing, testing, and maintenance.
• Ability to develop and implement fall protection and rescue plans.
• Medical certification of personnel involved in safety-critical roles.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage and execute fire safety upgrades and technology enhancements.
• Proven track record in compliance with OHS legislation and safety standards.
