Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to supply, deliver, install, demonstrate, and commission infusion pumps and docking stations, along with the purchase of compatible administration sets, for use in institutions under the Western Cape Department of Health for a period of 3 years. The aim is to ensure the provision of reliable, standardized infusion equipment and consumables across healthcare facilities to improve patient care and operational efficiency.

Scope

The scope encompasses:

• Supply, delivery, installation, demonstration, and commissioning of infusion pumps and docking stations.
• Provision of compatible administration sets for infusion pumps.
• Support and maintenance services for the equipment over a 3-year period.
• Provision of training, technical support, and documentation for clinical and technical staff.
• Delivery to multiple hospitals and healthcare institutions within the Western Cape Province.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include, but are not limited to:

• Infusion pumps must be volumetric, capable of delivering precise infusion rates (0.1 to 999 ml/h), with automatic regulation and alarms for occlusion, completion, and low battery.
• Battery capacity to support at least 6 hours of continuous operation at 125 ml/h infusion rate, with automatic recharge when connected to mains power.
• Compatibility with existing infusion pump models (e.g., Agilia, Infusomat, Alaris) and their docking stations.
• Provision of docking or stacking systems linking a minimum of three pumps, with at least one free docking station per four pumps purchased.
• Equipment must meet safety standards such as ISO 13485, IEC 60601-1, and SAHPRA licensing requirements.
• Infusion sets must be sterile, latex-free, with specified filters, and compatible with the pumps.
• Equipment must be robust, impact-resistant, easy to clean, and attachable to mobile stands or rails.
• Provision of software for data logging, alarm management, and maintenance diagnostics.
• Compliance with clinical safety, accuracy, and quality standards, including validation and calibration procedures.

Skills and Skills Requirements

The tender requires bidders to demonstrate:

• Manufacturing and technical expertise in medical infusion devices, supported by ISO 13485 certification.
• Proven experience in supplying and maintaining infusion pumps and related equipment in healthcare settings.
• Capability to provide comprehensive training to clinical and technical staff, including user operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Availability of qualified service technicians with the necessary skills to perform repairs, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
• Ability to supply and support compatible consumables and spare parts, with a full cost structure for total ownership.
• Compliance with all regulatory requirements, including SAHPRA licensing and sterilization standards.
• Capacity to provide ongoing technical support, training, and documentation throughout the contract period.
