Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to appoint a service provider to deliver canteen services at Uitenhage Centre for a period of 24 months. The service must ensure daily food provision that meets safety and quality standards, supporting the operational needs of the centre.

Scope

The scope includes the provision of catering and canteen services at the Uitenhage Centre over a 24-month period. The service encompasses food preparation, handling, and delivery, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, waste management, pest control, and maintenance of proper hygiene standards. The service provider must demonstrate relevant experience and capacity to sustain these services throughout the contract duration.

Technical Requirements

• Management Plan / Methodology: The tenderer must submit an executive summary (10 points), a business model (10 points), and a human resources plan (20 points). The management plan should include organizational structure, food safety and preparation skills, staff rosters, and affiliation with the South African Chefs Association (advantageous). All staff must hold basic food handling qualifications.
• Catering Implementation Plan: A detailed plan must be provided outlining how the service will be executed.
• Previous Experience: Submission of at least three reference letters from the last three years demonstrating successful provision of similar catering services, with contact details and contract details.
• Contingency Plan: A plan detailing steps to address unforeseen events such as strikes, power outages, or equipment failure (15 points).
• Food Safety Certification: Submission of a valid Certificate of Acceptability for current catering operations (25 points). The premises must adhere to waste disposal, pest control, and water supply standards.

Skills Requirements

• Relevant food preparation and safety skills and qualifications for all staff members.
• Organizational skills to manage daily operations effectively.
• Experience in industrial mass catering or fast food services, demonstrated through reference letters.
• Ability to implement and adhere to food safety and hygiene standards.
