Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to carry out renovations at Letaba Laboratory to enhance operational efficiency, improve staff morale by providing modern facilities, and add value to NHLS assets. The project aims to modernize the laboratory environment, facilitate workflow, and support the department's diagnostic, research, and training activities.

Scope

The scope encompasses comprehensive renovations across multiple areas including:

• Renovation of the Tea Room/Board Room, Toilets, Archive Storeroom, and various laboratories (Main Lab, Micro, Haematology, Chemistry).
• Construction of walls, installation of doors, windows, ceilings, flooring, and wall finishes.
• Provision and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment such as lockers, tables, chairs, sinks, and air conditioning units.
• Electrical and plumbing works, including wiring, lighting, water supply, drainage, and installation of air conditioners.
• Interior finishing, painting, tiling, and installation of signage and blinds.
• Site preparation, safety measures, and coordination with hospital operations to ensure minimal disruption.

Technical Requirements

The technical specifications include:

• Construction of drywall partitions, plastering, and painting to specified standards.
• Installation of fire-rated drywall systems with acoustic and fire insulation.
• Use of approved materials such as SABS or equivalent standards for tiles, glass, paint, and fixtures.
• Electrical installations compliant with SANS10142, including circuit breakers, isolators, and wiring in PVC trunking.
• Plumbing works with approved pipes, fittings, and fixtures, including stainless steel sinks, toilets, and water heaters.
• HVAC systems with inverter-type split units, properly wired and connected with appropriate isolators and circuit breakers.
• Flooring with approved tiles, vinyl, or carpets as specified, with proper sub-floor preparation.
• Interior finishes including wall finishes, ceiling systems, and signage in accordance with specifications.
• Site safety, environmental controls, and minimal disruption to ongoing hospital activities.

Skills Requirements

The project demands a multidisciplinary team with the following skills:

• Project Management: Experienced in managing large-scale renovation projects within operational environments, including scheduling, coordination, and compliance.
• Construction Skills: Certified builders, carpenters, drywall installers, and plasterers with proven experience in commercial/industrial renovations.
• Electrical Skills: Licensed electricians familiar with SANS standards, capable of installing and certifying electrical systems.
• Plumbing Skills: Qualified plumbers with experience in hospital or laboratory plumbing systems.
• HVAC Technicians: Certified HVAC specialists with expertise in installing and commissioning inverter-type split air conditioning units.
• Interior Finishing: Skilled painters, tilers, and joiners with experience in high-standard interior finishes.
• Health & Safety: Safety officers knowledgeable in occupational health and safety regulations, capable of implementing site safety plans.
• Quality Assurance: Professionals capable of ensuring compliance with technical specifications, standards, and quality control procedures.

All team members must possess relevant certifications, trade test certificates, and experience in their respective fields to ensure quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
