Objectives

The primary objective of this tender is to solicit services for the servicing of air conditioners at Mpumalanga Clinic, ensuring proper maintenance, operational efficiency, and compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The service aims to maintain the functionality and longevity of the air conditioning units through preventative, corrective, and routine maintenance activities.

Scope

The scope of work includes:

• Preventative maintenance and servicing of air conditioning units at Mpumalanga Clinic.
• Inspection and testing of units for noise, vibration, refrigerant leaks, insulation, and operational modes.
• Cleaning of coils, filters, and condensate drains.
• Electrical checks including compressor operation, capacitors, thermostats, and overloads.
• Providing detailed inspection reports and quotations for additional repairs if needed.
• Ensuring all work complies with local authority regulations, departmental standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and SAB specifications.
• Site visits and inspections to assess the full extent of work required.

Technical Requirements

The technical requirements specify that:

• All work must be fully compliant with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 85/1993 and SAB standards.
• Materials used must be SABS approved, and all components should bear the SABS mark or equivalent.
• Work must be checked and approved by the Chief Artisan or Works Inspector.
• All units must be serviced thoroughly, including checking refrigerant levels, cleaning coils, inspecting electrical components, and testing operational modes.
• All work must be priced fully inclusive of VAT, labour, materials, and profit.
• Contractors must visit the site to familiarize themselves with the layout and existing units before submitting quotations.

Skills Requirements

The tender requires service providers to possess:

• CIDB registration with a minimum grading of 1 ME.
• Certified qualifications as Refrigerants Technicians, Gas Practitioners (SAQCC Gas), or equivalent.
• Proven experience in servicing and maintaining air conditioning systems, particularly split and window units.
• Knowledge of local authority regulations, health and safety standards, and SAB specifications.
• Ability to produce detailed inspection reports and quotations for repairs and additional work.
• Capability to supply and install approved materials and components.
• Availability to perform work within the specified lead time of 1 week after site handover.
